My name is Talia Leacock and I am a storyteller. For as long as I can remember, I have been a hopeless romantic and my first and longest love affair is with the written word. I love words for their power to teach, touch, and transform the people who write them and the ones who read them. I love their ability to convey important stories and messages and the way they foster self-expression. I love words for having saved me from some of my darkest moments. This is why I tell my stories. I edit so that I can help others tell theirs.
Absolutely! Naturally, my passion for writing led me to a degree in professional writing from York University where I learned as much about the importance of collaboration, compromise, integrity, commitment, and persistence as I did about the technical aspects writing and editing.
While my degree has been a great asset to my career and my confidence as a writer and editor, I have been writing for public consumption since the 10th grade when I joined my high school’s newspaper. Since then, I have written for community news publications, copy-edited for MacMedia Magazine (York University’s second largest student-run publication), and went on to become Editor-in-Chief of the magazine in my third year. On the blog...
This blog is home to the musings of a twenty-something word-obsessed, kinky-haired black girl with a penchant for shower singing, an addiction to cheesecake, and an unparalleled love for bookstores. I tell stories and speak on topics that allow me to share my passions with you. That means you'll find everything from commentary on current events to personal stories and the lessons they've taught me.
From my business...
I am lucky enough to know the magic that is being able to put my best ideas and thoughts into words. I want to give that gift to you. Whether I'm helping you refine your own writing through editing, crafting engaging copy for your website or business, writing you a powerful speech, or coaching you to improve your writing skills, I will help you get closer to your best writing.
I’d love to interact with you. Contact me via email, follow me on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram , or connect with me on LinkedIn!
And remember: Tell your stories. Speak your truth.
